IILI-155 IJFFIIIEHS EDGAR EMERY Vice President THOMAS WHALEN DORIS BENNER President ,Secretary ITH September, i935 came the advent of 704 young and glowing Soph- mores to the portals of N. H. S. They had been culled from the two junior high schools and from many out of town districts. These tremulous prospects were quick to organize under the efficient direction of Miss Edyth Esbenshade, the class sponsor, and it wasn't long before they produced a suc- cessful Sophomore Assembly program, as well as having cleverly decorated the auditorium at Christmas Sophomore activities being necessarily cur- tailed, these were the sum and substance of the first year's activities, although individual students exerted themselves in individual activities. Came l936, and the new Juniors had a Big Year ahead. Elections were the first things on the calendar, and December saw a close contest for the various offices. Then came the Junior Prom, traditional social function of the Junior Class. ln spring, the class was signally honored by having seven of its members elected to the National Honor Society. The fall of i937 found about SOO Seniors trying hard to be dignified, some succeeded beautifully. The Senior Banquet was the big social affair of the year, although the Spring Dance ran it a close second. At any rate they both had one thing in common-swing. A Full House the Senior Play, was re- putedly the best ever, as played by our rising young thespians under the direction of Coach Allen. The Honor Society elections in the fall and spring, as well as the signing of the Honor Book at Senior Assembly brought further distinction to a number of Seniors. And finally, the most important thing of the high school career-Com- mencement Week, and may our history continue! KATHRYNE ELSIE RFIFSNYDER i Treasurer TWENTY-FIVE .' ,S , .J iil E'3 ':.
