A SHE TEH EISE HUWEH ET us turn the hands of Father Time back through the ages and focus our attention on the growth and development of the Eisenhower High School, lt is l87O and Norristown gazes proudly upon its newest gain, a small sturdy building called the Norristown High School. Time Marches On and in l884 the present system of co-education was introduced in the school. In touring the building in l884, we find that the McCann Library occupied rooms I2 and l4 while the auditorium consisted of rooms Zl and 23. What a contrast to our present arrangementl Time Marches On and in l896 Spice made its first appearance. With the coming of the new century in l900, came a complete renovation of the school. In l903 it assumed its present shape. Athletics were initiated at this time and in l909 the athletic field was first put to use. Norristown played its parts in the growing modernization era of the world in the introduction of such things as student government, forensics, and dramatics in the school. ln l928 Hi-Eye and Handbook made their debut. From this time on, Eisenhower, now named, progressed rapidly and became a leading school of the area, And so Time Marches On, and in the year l938, the Old Eisenhower will give way to the New for which it has so splendidly paved the way. We shall enter the new school with cherished memories of the past and with the hope that our New Eisenhower will carry on the high standards and the tra- ditions ofthe Old Eisenhower as Time Marches On.

HETHUSPEIITIII l The Tower as it was . . . IT was on November l7, i936 that we first learned that a new high school was to be erected in Norristown, a Greater Eisenhower. Amidst the great rejoicing that prevailed in the foreground, there appeared in the back- ground a spirit of regret as the students ten- derly looked back upon their many happy memories of the old Eisenhower. For they knew that it had served its purpose splendid- ly and that its influence would be the stepping stone for greater glories and bigger opportuni- ties in the Greater Eisenhower. As we leave the school, the resounding echoes of the old halls shall linger in our mem- ories. lvlay all who follow us in this Greater Eisenhower look upon the old Eisenhower with reverence and continue to uphold the stand- ards of our old school as set forth in its mot- to, Learn and live to serve. 9 gf, 1 f 'fl jf.-, Old Eisenhower . . and then the lightning struck!
