Mrs. Fairburn, Mr. Blacker August 30, 1948, was an auspicious date for fifty-seven new- comers to Norris City High School. We swarmed through the build- ing, had tricks played on us by the ole-timers, and our eagerness was refreshing. It didn't take many weeks for us to become oriented to our new surroundings and to begin the contribution to school activities. Our class is represented on the Student Council by Nina Ander- son, Maude Miner and Bruce Johnson. We are duly proud of our members who play on the Junior Varsity Basketball team. They are Bruce Johnson, Richard Whipple, Jann Smith, Roy Johnson, Darrel Whatley, Robert Duvall and Ronnie Brown. The Freshman cheerleaders, Peggy McCaleb, Velva Gholson and Darrel Whatley added much to the atmosphere of enthusiasm at ball games. Our sponsors, Mrs. Fairburn and Mr. Blacker, have skillfully conducted us through this most crucial year in our careers as worthy members of the student body.
