Unlike other organizations, in order to attain membership in the band, it requires constant practice and untlr- in efforts. g This year we have thirty-two members in our band. We also have four majorettes and a band major. We are striving for a better band than we have had in previous years, and we feel we have already accomplished a great deal toward that goal, U As we look back we can see many incidents that happened 111 the band that we shall not soon forget For instance one of the happiest times vias Labor Day On thls particular occasion we went to Mount Vernon for a parade and afterua ds attended a carnival at the city park Several of the band members had their fortunes told Another highlight was all the cotton candy and c1der that vias dragged onto the bus along with our instruments and other belongings We finally made room for it all though and we returned home a very tired but happy group Among the other things we do are play for all the basketball games give assembly pro grams and play for any special occasion such as the March of Dimes program Graduating seniors who are in the band will be awarded the Silver Seal at the end of the school year Anita Carlisle Lillian Oliver V1rg1n1a Midkiff Carroll Doerner Helen Meredith Baritones Melba Coffman James Wallace Trombones Roberta Wade Philip Veatch Ardella Farris Clarmets Cornets Alto Horns Wyatt Martin Jo Ann Short Ruth Ann Dav1s Wanda Haddock Bobby Gene Chapman Peggy McCaleb Edward Montgomery Joe Piland Drums Cyril Doerner fat lxilft-Quay Charles Gossett G1uneR ergo?
