Mr. J. Don Garrison, Superintendent of Schools. In Dedication Deciding a dedicatee for the 1964 Trail was relatively easy this year, as there was one man who stood out from all the rest in years of devoted service to Norman and its public school system. He became principal of Norman Junior High in 1933 and principal of Norman High School in 1935. The following year, 1936, he moved up to superintendent of schools where he has worked until this year, excepting his years of military service. He is the reason we have many new school buildings in Norman, only one of which is our science building. In 1947 he presented Norman High football players and enthusiastic crowds of spectators with the floodlights in Owen Sta- dium for our purposes. Each vear the bovs par- ticipating in football who receive the best grades have their names engraved on a trophy estab- lished bv him to encourage high academic stand- ing along side with physical fitness. We want to express our most sincere grati- tude to him for his outstanding dedication to Norman and its citizens by dedicating this Trail to him, although this is the third time he has received this honor. In this his vear of retire- ment, we want to say good-by, but thanks, to our friend and builder of both structure and character, Mr. J. Don Garrison. 7
