D« 1 1 olio . err FI VI QU W What docs Norman High School mean to you? Is it simply a building full of classrooms, crowded lockers, and busy corridors? Docs it mean books and lessons? Or docs it mean proms, basketball and football games, and all the extra- curricular activities of a school? To the TRAIL staff, Norman High School means all these things and many more. It represents many of the best moments we have ever experienced—or ever will experience. This year, 1963, lias given every person in Norman High countless memories to be relived in years to come. You who are sophomores and juniors will return for many more wonderful moments, but the time is growing precious for our seniors, for this is the last year they will tread these halls—the home of the Tigers. Remember the fun we had at the Howdy Hop, the coronations, “Now or Never Week,” the prom, and all the other parties? And we cannot forget how the untamable Tiger spirit of every student was exemplified in all our sports events, especially as we cheered our bas- ketball team to the State Championship. But most important, we realize how those moments in the classroom have helped us to grow academically. Perhaps you remember in particular the thrill of delving back into the pages of history, the beauty of a certain poem, or the satisfaction gained from a successful sci- entific experiment. These are the moments which form a sound basis for our education. Though it is impossible to record each mem- ory of every student, we the 1963 TRAIL staff, have strived to bring to you in the following pages the highlights of this school year. And now we wish to present to you ... A Trail of Memories. [2] RONALD MINNIX, Editor

One of the most memorable is a very special teacher at Norman High School, a person who has an unmatched dedication and zeal for teaching. She has spent many extra hours helping her students —preparing them for scholastic contests. Many classes have benefited from her sponsorship, and many groups have flourished under her leadership. She has inspired and fascinated us in the classroom and endeared herself to every student because of her wit and charm. She has almost become a legend be- cause of her unusual ability to make the pages of a text come alive for us. We arc proud to pay tribute to her by dedicating this 1963 Trail to Norman High’s own favorite “Tootsie Bell” . . . Miss Nadine Runyan. [3]
