CLASS HISTCDRY Thrrty tvyo members of the Freshmen Class entered Hrgh School early rn September 1946 and elected Mr Wrllre Maddox as sponsor We were 1n1t1ated bv the Senrors rn De cember and vxent to the Narrows for the prcnrc rn the sprmg Mary Brown and Mary Hamrl ton left school that vear to get marrxed Billy Smrth and Glen Carpenter dropped out ef ferx breen yoxned the Army Irene Garner transferred to Mt Ida Anna Rowton, to Washmg ton Flossre Caughran, to Calrfornra and Carl Mrles to Hot Sprrngs ln September 1947 as Sophomores we elected Mrs Sharp as sponsor and went to Camp Clearforlc for the annual prcnrc Brlly Dee Wrllrams yorned us for one year Odre johnson left to 1o1n the Army Eugene Stelrer yorned the Navy Ora Howton went to Calrfornra Gene Vaggoner and 1 C Hayes dropped out 'viarjorre Yearban jorned us that year On September 1 1948 we entered school as unrors and elected Nirs Barr as sponsor Thurman Black returned from the Army and joxned us Peter Bragg came for one year Our junror play, The Scarlet Ghost was one of the best plays ever grven rn Norman We cntertarned the Senrors 'it the Town Hall vx rth 1 receptron rn the sprrng and took them tollot Sprrngs to a shovy erry Putnam drd not frnrsh the year ll hen vue entered school on September 5 1949 as Senrors We had lost more of our number Gene Glazner transferred to Nlt Ida junror Wrlson went to Hot Sprrngs to attend school and Bernrce Grll entered school at Holbrook, Arrzona Dale Hensley lorned us from Lrye Oak Calrfornra, and rs gradually gettrng accustomed to Arkansas ways Vie now haue 11 members Vbrth Mr New and Nhss league as sponsors me are plannrng many actrv rtres for thrs year . v- V . . .
