These past two years I have loafed. Yes, I retired from teaching. I saved enough money these last fifteen years to retire. I thought you might be interested in what all our Norman classmates are doing now so I looked them up, and this is what I found: Jesse and Elizabeth Alligood are evangelists. They have an evangelistic team somewhat like Billy Graham's. Terry Pate leads the singing and Mrs. Pate fformerly Wilda Phillipsl plays the piano. I guess you know Dr. John Carr is president of Norman now. His wife, Faye Coleman Carr, is dietitian there. Some other classmates are faculty members at Norman too. Gene Watson is head of the Dept. of Christianity' and Bernice Williams is Dean of Women. Harold Johnson is still washing dishes!!! Do you remember Brady's? Well, it is a night club now owned by Frances Coffee and Betty Jean North. I hear they have quite a jazz band under the direction of Noah Lindsay. Other than the band they have fan dancer Betty Ruth Eady and the modern day Andrew Sisters, Mary Ann Bennett, Martha Harrell and Joyce Ann Williams. Laura Jean Baugh and Barbara Clark are beauty parlor operators in Moultrie. Mary Brown has a charm school right next door to them. Two of Mary's recent graduates, Mary Jo Hasty and Nadine Bryant are now models in New York. I I just got the latest news about the govenor's race in Georgia. Benny Rush won the election. It is rumored that Jackie Croll will be his new secretary. I guess she will satisfy her life-long ambition to sit on his knee. we ought to have the real Norman spirit in our government now with Bob Floyd as speaker of the House and Elston Stanfield and Charles Ellis in the Senate. Max and June Miller have done well as artists. They paint ad- vertisements for the Pollock's and Phillips Bottling Company. Their drink, WBurpy Beer,W was a discovery made in chemistry class at Norman by accident. 35 Q Since Hazel Woodard, Clarence Weeks, and James Purvis have only part time churches, they are running a baby sitting agency as a side- line. All three are driving Cadillacs. Louvenia and Bobby Spires are farming out from Cordele. They don't get into town very often because it is too much trouble to get the twelve children dressed and into the wagon. Ann West, Gwinnelle Wheeler, and Hazel Bowen are famous Metropolitan Opera stars. Speaking of operas, Willard Jones and Frank Howell are quite popular on the Grand Ole 0p'ry. Mona Kennedy is running a Date Bureau in Atlanta. She told me that Jim Leonard and Hugh Garner are her best customers. Jim is still a casanova. David Brantley, who is janitor at Norman, told me he saw W.A. Hand and Waldrep Jenkins in Moultrie. They are working for the city Ccollecting garbagej . Last week I went to Milledgeville. I saw Tommy Studstill leav- ing the asylum. He had just been to visit Ray Stedham who finally drove himself crazy telling jokes. Dr. C.R. McCutcheon is head of the asylum now and two of his best nurses are Lillie Watkins and Mrs Nellie Chambers. Helen Harrell and NBitW Hale finally stopped fighting long enough to get married. They have a hot dog stand in Moultrie. If you have a television set, be on the lookout for Loretta and Gilbert Lundy. They are very popular on their WHow to be Happyn series. Cecil Key is their business manager.- Harold Pullen and Billy Long are co-editors of New York Times. On the front page of their paper yesterday was a picture of Frances Norman. She was voted the prettiest grandmother of 1970. Jo Anne Timmons has an old maid's home now. Poor thing, she tried, but Derrell simply refused. I am late for a meeting so I must close.
