MISS FAYE GORDON The 1963 dedication goes to two NHS teachers, Miss Jennie Walker and Miss Fay Gordon, who have given their services to NHS for many years. They have both been outstanding in their profession and are a credit to themselves and to the school they have served. Miss Gordon came to Norfolk to be penmanship supervisor and later changed to her present capacity of teaching freshman English. She has also taught Shakespeare. Miss Gordon is a graduate of Wayne State Teachers College and attended the Palmer Method Penmanship school at Cedar Rapids. Iowa. She obtained her M.A. from Colorado State College at Greeley. Before coming to Norfolk, Miss Gordon taught at Fullerton and Fairbury, and in a rural school in Cedar County. She is an active member of the Eastern Star. She also works at Schwesers. Miss Jennie Walker began her career in Norfolk teaching normal training, which enabled high school graduates to become rural teachers. She later began teaching mathematics and this year her schedule includes geometry, advanced senior math, and intermediate algebra. She is originally from Hiawatha, Kansas., and received her B.A. from Cotner College in Lincoln. She obtained her masters degree from the University of Nebr. Miss Walker has been, in her years with NHS, sponsor of the Y groups, and sponsor of the N'Ergettes. She is a life member of the P.T.A. and has been state president of the Business and Professional Women's Club and president of the third district of the NSEA. Both are members of Delta Kappa Gamma, an honorary society for women educators.
