Z ' , my ' 'ae- a, - - ' ' On December 21. the auditorium at Norfolk Catholic was filled with an expectant crowd. The Senior class, together with the Clee Club. was presenting a Christmas pageant. The auditorium was darkened. One could see on the dimly lit stage strange figures surrounding a crude stable. The stable. of course. housed Mary and Joseph and the Infant Savior. But the other figures? Suddenly a voice was heard . . . I am the Angel of Peace-I am the Angel of the Spirit of Christmas. My mission is to bring to men of good will throughout the centuries a faint glimmer hope in a world that strives for peace. but brance, the one tie that this world has with peace and tranquility that was the promised lot of mankind in the Garden of Paradise. In the turmoil of this world, in the struggle for life, in the disorder of a world heavy with sin, I come with the message of peace, for I am the Herald of the Prince of Peacef, This was the Angel of will not pay the price of peace. I am the angel of remem- Peace calling on the prophets to tell in their own words of the Messiah. Now the audience was enlightened. The figures on the stage were two groups of narrators-the prophets of the Old Testament who had foretold the coming of the Messiah. and the Angels of the Fulfillment Vincent Corleto carries crucifix, while Arthur who told in the words of the New Testament the cir- Perkins, as a bishop. and Clay Cate-vood, as , , ,, a Qerver ,md the My to the will i cumstances surrounding the birth of the Infant lung. As the angels spoke, the seniors brought their words to life. First, a group of shepherds, then the Kings came through the auditorium to the feet of the King of Kings. After them came people from all walks of lifefpriests, religious, families, service men. all with one purpose, to adore the God-made-Man. Throughout the entire performance the Clee Club under the direction of Father Maioriello furnished a musical background for the prophecies. the words of fulfillment, and the adoration of all the faithful. But an account of this Pageant would be most incomplete if I did not take you behind the scenes to see the preparations that had gone into this extravaganza. The stage props were wielded into shape under the expert craftsmanship of our custodian, Eric Lancaster. He was ably seconded by Allen Hudson who gave unselfishly of time and talent. These two also saw to it that the traditional Christmas greens graced the stage and doorways of the auditorium. Patricia Gregory, John Began, Robert Hickerson, Jimmy Foley, Michael Willsey, Rose Eller, Carolyn Butt, Catharine Connor fhiddenl and Emilia Cresswell narrate the wonderful story of Christmas.
