These punk groups are among the vast and varied catalogue of NA students' favorite music - punk, New Wave, pop, rock, beach, and soul. Fortunately for all, the year's con- cert calendar had something for everyone, no matter what his taste. New Wave music came in on the crest of last year's popu- larity and continued to hold a strong following, evident in the number of Duran-Duran, Flock of Seagulls, Romantics, and Police devotees. Members of this crowd enjoyed shows by the Ramones, Oingo-Boingo, Adam and the Ants, and Squeeze, highlighted by a mass turnout for the Clash. Rock fans went to see Fleetwood Mac, the Stray Cats, Eric Clap- ton, and good ol' Jethro Tull. The highlight of the year's events was Rush, a sold-out hey-day for demi-gods. Soul fans, after It Ii l ll l l l l l 1 i i l l l ll l snatching up Michael's new album, turned out for Prince and Diana Ross. Although concerts this year were numerous, they failed to satisfy seniors, who took to the local music clubs. Many Academy students frequented the Wave, King's Head, Pea- body's, and Rogues for appear- ances bythe X-Raves, Skip Cas- tro, and the Good Guys. Video music provided a new dimension to the music scene. More and more students tuned in to MTV and many more turned out for a video concert by The Who. To the delight of these video fans, the ever-popular Stones released a movie of their 1981 tour, entitled Let's Spend the Night Together. Shirra Leavitt, creator of the Stones banner shown here, as usual won free tickets to the premier. Yes, with its concert scene, vibrant club life, and video music world, 1983 was a time of fun as the year's events provided a sound for all seasons. j. l 1 It -r. 1 41, P. . , ' , A, . n. . gl. li -.A 'Milf' Jill Eisenbeiss purchases a concert ticket from Mothers at Military Circle. 27
