CORRECTING CHAOS Elizabeth Outland enjoys Mr. Perry's blowing his own horn to signal the passing of weeks during Fast Forward Day. 5' K ' 1 1 1 E K fl' Let's see - on the first Wednes- day I have Keyettes, and on the third Wednesday, Spanish Club, and the fourth Monogram Club. Or is that Spanish on the fourth and Monogram on the third? No, it's Spanish on the third and Monogram fourth. Flight. Now on Thursdays, I have IRC the first and the third weeks. Okay. So l'm in study hall on all my Tuesdays and Fridays. That means I need third category activities for Mon- day and the second and fourth Thursdays, lthink . . . Soundlike a social schedule for a queen? This was seventh bell, the new and different system master- minded to fill just one hour of the day - for every student in Tun- stall. Obviously not an easy task for the creator of the project or for those who had to remember which day of what week it was. But the system did accomplish its purposes to cut down on seventh bell chaos and to decrease the number of AWOL students. Acti- vities ran the gamut from Shisler- cizes to Flag Football. Added to these were the normal activities offered. The highlight of the whole process came on Fast Forward Day, when students went through a simulated four- week period in just one hour! As Mr. Perry roamed the halls blow- ing his horn to signal the end of each week, students madly scur- ried from room to room. All work- ed out well in the end however, for at the end of the fall season seniors were given back their in- dependent study and students in general discovered that planned activities did indeed add a bit of spice to the normally dry seventh period.
