No sooner had the 1982 academ- ic year ended in June than the faculty, administration, and staff began making preparations for the following year. First and fore- most on the agenda was the com- pletion ofthe Royster addition to accomodate the inclusion of the seventh grade into the Middle School. Several new classrooms, a locker area, and a spacious computer room were among the new facilities planned. Additional work was also to go on in the Lower School to allow for further expansion of programs. Labor of a less pleasant variety also had to begin. Flepainting lockers, scrap- ing gum from desk tops, fixing broken chairs, waxing floors, cleaning locker rooms, and paint- ing walls were just a few of the tasks needing attention. As the summer wore on and August rapidly drew closer, activity really went into high gear. Varsity and junior varsity teams began re- porting for practice, and groans and grunts became the order of the day. Old teachers began trickling in to decorate the class- rooms and stan planning for the year. A bevy of new faces was seen as new teachers reported for orientation meetings. On Au- gust 19th, the annual Leadership Seminar took place as student and faculty leaders representing all three divisions of the school met to discuss the coming year. The book sale came next, and as students found out who their var- ious teachers would be, both groans and laughter could be heard. All these activities were leading toward one certain and unalterable end that was approaching too rapidly - the beginning of the 1983 academic year at NA.
