Phil Freeman, Ralph McBride Baseball came a long way at Nordhoff this year, as the Rangers showed one of the most spirited teams it has ever had. Coached by Fred Linkenhelt and Herb Smith, newcomers at Nordhoff, the Rangers got off to a flying start by defeating the Ventura j.V.'s in a thriller by a score of 10-7. Although having to take the bitter with the sweet during the rest of the season, the Ranger baseball team showed great promise of things to come in future years, being loaded with freshman, sophomore, and junior talent, and having only two graduating seniors on this year's squad, Ralph McBride and Phil Freeman. All in all, one might say that Nordhoff had a successful baseball season.

Boasting one of the largest squads in years, the j.V.'s this season showed great promise of becoming one of Nordhoff's better baseball teams in a few years. Coached by Herb Smith, the Ranger j.V.'s showed a lot of spirit and willingness to play, one quality which characterizes all Norclhoff junior varsity teams. Nordhoff fans should hear a lot from these boys in years to come.
