The 1981-1982 Girls basketball team had a challenging season. This year the girls put forth one of their best efforts yet. The team had many players that returned from last year. The old players combined with the new, and made a team that showed great teamwork and improvement. Coach Teague spent time and hard work to develop the girls' skills and it showed throughout the season. The Varsity Girls had their first victory against Dacula with a score of 53-47. Leigh-Ann Davis was the leading scorer with 14 points. Laurie Walker had 11 points and Leigh-Ann Cobb had 10. All the girls played a very good game. Once again the girls defeated another team, Duluth. The Devils blew by the Wildcats with a score of 70-44. Iill Iohnson, leading scorer for the night, scored 15 points. Laurie Walker and Leigh-Ann Cobb, two other high scorers, made 14 and 13 points respectively. DEVILS DG IT ,W . Ls

1 - Laurie Walker gets rid of the ball. 2 - Laurie Walker goes for a fast break against the Possums. 3 - Leigh Ann Cobb takes care of the rebounds. 4 - Rug makes a battles at the boards. 5 - Tim O'Malley reaches high for the jump ball. 6 - Taylor Lackey puts one in from underneath. 7 - Mike Senf makes a shot despite the Parkview defense. -NN The Blue Devils pulled off their first victory against Ducula on December 8, 1981 by a score of 69-57. Everyone did an outstanding job. Taylor Lackey was the leading scorer with 19 points and 13 rebounds. Sterling Durrett followed with 12 points, and Elbert Manning with 11 rebounds. Norcross came through again the following game, with 79- 68 win over North Hall. Although the game was close, the Devils ultimately pulled away. The leading scorer was Elbert Manning with 20 points, 11 rebounds. Taylor Lackey, the next highest scorer had 16 points. Ieff Henderson played an excellent game and scored 14 points. 131
