JOURNALISM The Journalism Club does much work each year to prepare the Cougar Connec- tion , formerly called Paw Prints and Cougar Courier . Paw Prints used to be seen in the Pony Express . Cougar Connection is exclusively a school newspaper. Each staff member writes articles for the newspaper, and puts the articles, pictures and comics strips together to inform Norco High ' s student body and staff about school events. Mrs. Martin has done much to improve the quality of the school paper and many believe this was journalism ' s best year. Editor Tom Robinson sells an issue of the Cougar Connec- tion to Kelli Bozarth, Brenda Schwartz and Cindy Dawson sell a newspaper to Kym Coons. GIRLS ' LEAGUE The Girls ' League is a service club for school and community. The biggest project of the year is the Thanksgiving food drive which began in 1972. Girls ' League organizes the competition among second period classes to bring in canned food for needy families. At Christmas time, with the cooperation of the New Generation, they sell carol- grams, which are messages accompa- nied by a Christmas song. On Valen- tine ' s Day they sponsor carnation sales and the fvlr. Valentine contest. Each club selects a Mr. Valentine can- didate. Voting is done by giving money for each candidate. The money goes to Pepermint Ridge Home for the mental- ly disabled. This year they donated $150 to this cause. Mrs. Miriam Camp- bell is the sponsor and this year ' s president is Blanca Solis.
