Just obout the time everyone's feeling bored, bitten by the Seniotitis bug Cstudents ond teochers oliiseb, the ofinuol convention comes oround to woke everyone up! Mondoy, April 28th wos the dote of our 1980 A.S.D. Nominoting Convention, The morning begon with o hum of excitement, students finding their odvisories ond getting orgonized. Guests from other schools ond post A.5.D. members were seuted. We begon with Mr, Dove DiPoolo, our guest speolser, who wos followed by on introduction speech by out own Mr. Long. All condidotes were nominored off the floor by delegotes. The nominees were then escorted out of the gymnosium by the Sotgent-ot-Arms. First round voting tools ploce ond one condidote wos put on the bollot, In second round, the second condidote wos determined. After the completion of second round bolloring, o five minute breok was colled. This gove everyone o chonce to let loose their frustrotions ond go ctozy! Bolloons fell from the rf . - I, -1 u IA' ,,. rx X s -X i. F J M'-Q rf m . X I ,-,id ceiling, confetti flew, music blored, ond the whole ploce rooted with color ond excitement. Poges ron oround delivering notes, Everyone wos hoving o good time ond molsing o lot of noise. Then order wos coiled ond once ogoin, students settled down to business. Nominotions ond voting continued. For the offices of vice-president ond president, the condidotes porticipored in on open debore, where delegotes directed questions ot them, ond eoch tried to give the best possible onswer. Eoch yeor ot this time new A.5.B. officers elected. The purpose of the convention is to ploce only two condidotes for eoch office, on the bollot. While it occomplishes its purpose, it is still erjoyoble for the students. lt is something looked fotwotd tro every yeor. Most of the plonning is done by the A.S.D. Vice-president, who olsorpresides over the convention, Thonlfs to the help of oll those concerned, ond to the porticipotion ond spirit of the student body, the 1980 convention wos o greot success!
