1957 CLASS PROPHECY Here lt IS May 13 1963 6 years from the day we had our class day exerclses and we hav met for our flrst class reunlon at Boulder Park There sure IS a chang 1n everyone too' Only one member Sandy Dally IS unable to be here He had chosen th army as a career and couldnt get leave The flrst person I met at the reumon was sure handsome all dolled out 1n A1r Force blue It was Roger LaCoste he had declded to make hlS servlce a career too Then came a llttle freckled face nolsy stlnk er with pxgtalls announcmg the arrlval of her parents none other than Maryalys Klemesrud wlth some blg husky man same one shed had that crush on ln h1gh school Before we could even flnlsh our conversatxon John and Katle drove up m that same black Ford they had gone to college together but Katle had not used her nursmg educatlon she was helplng John ln h1s fathers store She told us about Maralyn Davis sald she wasn t as qulet as she used to be but had qulte a reputatlon for fllrtlng Wlth all the doc tors where she was a laboratory technlclan ln Iowa Clty hugh school friend Ruth DeGraw who was on her second year teachlng flFSt grade ln that rlval town Rockford Iowa And wow here comes a handsome young man Instantly I recognlzed h1m but oh how he had changed' changed by about 40 pounds none other than Glen Woodlwlss No sooner than I started to leave hxm when I turned around to meet Donavon Plerce and Har old Arndt Ozalk dxdnt need to tell us what hed been domg wed seen h1s name hlttmg the head lmes ln the paper playlng professlonal basket ball for the Jolly Jokers who had a reputatlon none less than the Harlem Globe Trotters Don that bundle of mlschlef had become a drlvers trammg teacher and Just look what hes drxv 1ng a 63 Cadlllac Must be domg pretty good m hls chosen fleld As usual theres someone late Here comes that curly halred guy easlly recognlzed as Roger Powell Well no wonder he was late th1s t1me a pau' of 2 year old twms taggmg along beslde hxm He had marrxed a girl from Rudd yes he always had hked Rudd As I heard some muslc ln the dlstance, I turned to see Roy Flsher He had brought a ra dlo along from h1s radlo and T V shop and tuned lnto some muslc Instantly I notlced Davld Shanks a dancing mstructor r1pp1ng lnto a Jltter bug he never could reslst dancing to good muslc And now an alrllne hostess IS danclng none other than Karen Wllcox She was domg the hula whlch she had learned when her axrlme dutles took her to Hawau When I felt a tap on my shoulder I turned to greet Rosanne Hanna and another redhead She was an art 1nstructor and had met her boyfrxend m that school he was an Engllsh teacher It seems those Hanna glrls always dld lake redheads' My gosh heres a l1ttle glrl ln a baby carrl age but already blowmg bubbles wlth her gum Just guess who her mother was none other than Clara Stlckney She always llked bubble gum too 1f I remember correctly Clara sald her tlme was pretty well taken up Wlth her husband and l1ttle glrl but dxd I hear her r1ght She sa1d that dur 1ng her spare tlme she dld a small amount of opert Slnglllg and she personally volunteered to perform for us later lf we wanted her to Then as I turned to face another one of my hlgh school glrlfrlends a camera flashed It was Charles and Walter Fuller They owned and op erated a photography shop ln good ol Nora Sprmgs Carolyn was no longer wlshmg for a Marme she had one rlght b6S1d9 her Carolyn buslly absorbed ln our conversatlon when we heard several gosslplng boys Well after all they hadnt seen each other for two whole years slnce Bob Treloar Duane Coe and Jack Watson had been to Iowa State College together Bob yes he dld make It through the math courses and Jack too who was engaged 1n chemlcal engl neermg Coe sand he hadnt llked the vetermary fxeld so hed left lt to pursue one of his favorlte pastlmes and had become a horse Jockey Carolyn and I went to s1t down for the pro gram vuhlch was about to start Lmda Franklln then Jomed US-It seems shed been busy gettmg somebody llned up to glve us some enjoyment Shed Just gotten back yesterday from travellng abroad as a mxsslonary I then reallzed there was only one of my classmates who I hadnt talked to and there he was up there perfomung B111 Gregory was all wound up ln one of hls humorous monologues Hed graduated from I S T C wlth a speech and dramatlcs degree Just then Llnda turned to ask me what oc cupatlon I was engaged m Me-the glrl voted most llkely to succeed Well I had all my lnfor matlon now I guess I could tell her I was work as soc1ety gosslp edltor for the newspaper' ' V I Y - . . y it . . . .
