college fhile we were talking, the door opened and there stood Jim Hall He s id the class he graduated with frlm college w s having a reunion so that was why he was in Chicago He also went on to say that he was getting along fine in ministry and was hapolly married Since so many of our old classmates were together, some or us decided to c ll Gordon Foell His orchestra was going to play in the Chicago theatre that night Gordon said he would be very happy to see his classmates again s he would 0DII4I4ght over to the tea room lso added tha he had a surorise for us We hadn't waited long before Gordon came he had changed very little since we last saw him exceot that he had grown side burns and a mustache As he entered he said the surprise he had for us was that he had brought long two of his sin ers for the evening One of them was a t1ll, brunette with a lot of make up on Alter taking a second glance I recognized Charlotte Hartwig Charlotte said she had taught school a few years and then decided she d1dn't want to do that the rest of ner life so she took up singing Of course, we recognized the tall, oow legged man as Tommy Huff stetler Tommy had been singing for ouite a few years, then he saw an oooortunity to be in stage shows bo that is what he is doing now Just then n attractive waitress oxougnt us our orders when she saw us, she called some of us by name Je w re rather embarrassed when we realized that none of us recognized Joan Billings She s ld she had she enjoyed it ve y much s we were eating, two smartl dressed women came to our t bles Some of us recognized them as They exolained that they were Chicago Soon, the door flew ooen didn t notice us since he was Joan Halverson and Kathleen Pierce models for one of the big comoanles in and a tall, handsome man rushed in in such a hurry He ordered a mell hurriedly and then turned toward us Of course, he w allen Fingalsen Allen aooligized for not noticing us sooner but it eems he hid in lmnort nt nrogram to aroear on th t night llen had become a oooular comediln both on stage and radio Now the whole senior class of 1953 from N S H S was together once aywln We had a wonderful time exchlnging experiences Tne time for us to nfrt again came too soon but I xm sure we all were very hapoy to have met UE HAVE A VARIETY OF NAMES IN OUR CLASS FROM THE VARIOUS WAIAS CFLIFE Some ere Appropriate and Some are Not There is no 'comeback , but an Ellerbeek' No melon , but a 'Sellon No 'hail-wig , but e 'Hartuug No 'hehsw', but a 'DeGraw'- Have no dates , but have Billings No armored tanks , but have 'Shanks Not a l'oddler', but e 'Uheeler' No 'Herehant'xg but a 'Harohant' One who can do the Highland Fling, when Tommy strikes G string Seiberltng bell , but a H811 Some 'sons' of Halver, Flngal and Swan N baker , but e 'Hiller locus , but a Lucas No one is idle but Steidl We need e 'Wel1', but have a 'Foell No one is fierce not even 'Pierce when 'Irish Eyes are Smiling' sure tis those of 0'Hourke ye see doll' , but a 'Carle' We have no 'stiff knees , but have 'Stickney' No one is as 'sure' as 'llillsher' lhis has been fun and I trust none will take offense V. a , , 3 , , I F A A 4 O f , f . 1 1 1 ' .
