The 195 5 student body of N. H. S. would like to take this opportunity to thank the school board, faculty, parents, and all the people of this communuty for providing a new school in which to further our education. We would like to express our deep appreciation to the board of education who spent so much time during the past year, in an effort to see that we received the very best school in North West North Dakota. As we close the doors on the old and open those of the new, there will be a feeling of excitement, exultation and accomplishments. On the other hand there undoubtedly will be a sentimental reflection of found and happy memories sealed off in dreams of the past as the old school is removed. As we move forward may we think of the lines from Oliver Wendell Holmes: Build thee more stately mansions, O my soul, As the swift seasons roll! Leave thy low-vaulted past! Let each new temple, nobler than the last, Shut thee from heaven with a dome more vast. Till thou at length are free. Leaving thine outgrown shell by life's unresting sea! DEDICATION Expressing deepest sympathy And Offering a prayer That God will bless and comfort you And keep you in his care. God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Psalm 46:1 In Memoriam The entire student body of Noonan High School was grieved and shocked by the fatal accident to their classmate Roger Allen Logelin the night of Sunday, February 6, 1955. Asa tribute to Roger, as a good friend and class- mate, we respectable dedicate this 1955 edition of the annual to perpetuate his memory. As we stop at the various countries, we see: Happily married to her 2nd Lt. , Rachel was unloading her furniture after the tourt move in two months. . , Going on our way, we came to a large construction plant where Glen was directing the building of Leslie's huge hotel business. Leslie, you know, struck it rich and has hotels from one end of the country to the other. . „ „ , _ That evening we donned our gowns and tails and went to Carnegie Hall for Deanna s finding of the lost chord. , Next stop was the Ringling Bros. Circus where Larry Roness was greasing the merry- eo-round. He’s a mechanic, you know. Continuing on our journey we were surprised by what we thought was a ying saucer. Three miles up the road we found it was Mickey practicing his discus throw. Just trim- ming up for the Olympics. Jim as Valedictorian, started out to be an engineer but with his intelligence and h able ways, the citizens insisted on him accepting the nomination for President of the United States, aid of course, he came through with flying colors. He now has Darla Gay, with all her business training, as his secretary. SENIOR CLASS WILL We, the Seniors of nineteen hundred and fifty five, being of improved (?) and weary mind! as a result of four years of arduous search for the golden nuggets of wisdom, now in spirit of magnonimity do hereby bestow upon those who are left to mourn our loss, the following bequest: To the Juniors we will our dignity and our ability to be boss. To the Sophomores we will our knowledge and our ability to be bossed. To the Freshmen we will our ability to take orders. To the Teachers we will our carved desks and all the gum under them plus plenty of patience. I, Deanna Johnson, will my extreme love of Chemistry to next year's class and my drivers license to the Junior girls. I, Leslie Anseth, will my ability to tell stories to Mr. Weroes. I, Rachel Dhuyvetter, will my ability to get by with out studying to Norma Evenson and my quiet ways to Barbara Focke. I, James Kimball, will my ability to argue to Mr. Anderson. I, Darla Gay Witty, will my school skipping ability to Wayne Fenster and my History book to the Furnace. I, Larry Roness, will my much used hopes of graduation to Glen Gustafson. I, Glen Spooner, will my parking spot to Noel Roness so he doesn't back ofl the road. I, Mickey Cameron, will my mature looks to Larry Fenster. 8 JAMES KIMBALL Valedictorian A rare compound of quality, noble, and true, with plenty of sense and humor, too. Jim culminated his high school career by prov- ing himself an outstanding student. He was editor of the school paper. He played a saxaphone in the school band, sang in the choir, took park in dramatics, and he was the regular center on the basket ball team as a senior. He graduated as top student in his class with a 4. 022 average. DARLA GAY WITTY Salutatorian As wise and beautiful as thou art Witty. Darla Gay participated in fifteen extra cur- ricular activities during her high school career. Probably her most outstanding accomplish- ments were in the field of music. Darla sang in the choir, was a member of the girls trio, and also did solo work. She also was a band member for four years. Darla was class president during her senior year. She cul- minated her high school career with a 4.011 average, thus entitling her to be class sal- utatorian. 9 Rachel Dhuyvetter ( What I will, I will, what 1 won't, I won't. ) Glen Spooner ( Work fascinates me, I could sit and look at it forever. ) Mickey Cameron ( I appear a quiet lad, but you don't know me. ) Leslie Anseth ( Why should I be good! ? ) Larry Roness ( A Romeo with heavy feet while sitting in the driver's seat. ) Deanna Johnson ( A pleasing personality is a perpetual letter of introduction. ) SENIOR CLASS HISTOR Y In September, 1951, thirteen bright-faced scholars started their high school days. They were Darla Gay Witty, Rachel Dhuyvetter, Marlene Berosik, Deanna Johnson, Joann Johnson, Donald Steffins, Glen Spooner, Gordon Everson, Mickey Cameron, James Kimball, Larry Roness, Leslie Anseth, Gary Melby, and Richard Myers. The outstanding event of that year was our initiation, something that we will cherish until we get the taste out of our mouths. Leslie was our class president and Rachel was the queen candidate. In 1952 nine of us entered as Sophomores. Joann, Donald, Gordon, Gary and Richard dropped out. Joann later moved to Arizona where she has resumed her high school studies. Rene Darras and Arlys Evans were the new members in our class. That year initiation was the highlight again, but we were doing the highlighting. Those poor Freshmen! ! ! ! Jim Kimball was our class president and Marlene Berosik, our queen candidate. Our Junior year proved to be a very busy one. The big event were our Junior-Senior Prom and Banquet and our class play, The Terror, directed by Mr. Anderson. That year Rene didn't come back in the beginning of the year, but started the second semester. Denna Johnson was our class president and also our queen candidate. In the fall of '54 eight seniors were enrolled. Our events were again our class play, Delightfully Young, directed by Mr. Triplett, and the Prom and Banquet given in our honor on May 6. One accomplishment we were very proud of was our annual. We think it's pretty good! This year Darla Gay was our president and our queen candidate. We went to the Black Hills for our skip day. It was very much enjoyed by all of us. Another big event was the 12th Annual Senior Day at Minot State Teacher's College which was very interesting and enjoyable. Baccalaureate service was held on May 22 with Rev. Moos as the speaker. Class night was on May 24 and graduation was on May 26. Claire Blikre was our speaker Look out, World! Of course, the ribbons were green. They all wore one kind of shoe and stocking on one foot and another kind on the other. The usual tradition of slave driving was car- ried out by the Sophomores and the Freshmen proved to be unwilling slaves. Monday night the Freshmen were marched out to the Noonan Dam to catch frogs. Good thing there were some brave boys. The Day of Reckoning finally came. On the morning of October 5 a variety of costumes were seen walking to school. One of them seemed to be tired. She came in a nightshirt and night cap. She must have been having nightmares as she was rolling a car tire in front of her. One of the baby girls turned out to be a hand- some young man. Everyone sure got a surprise. The Great Feast came that evening with many delicious dishes on the table. After washing their feet of molasses and oat- meal they put on a very good program. Part of the program consisted of blind folded pudding eaters, a demonstration on how little girls play house, a duet and a piano solo. After this we danced and then a delicious lunch was served by the sophomores. Everyone went home very happy. Freshmen Return Party On November 9th, the Freshmen gave their annual return party for the Sophomores. The party started with a piano solo by Clarice Fenster and the trio sang a song after which everybody danced to the swell music of Mr. and Mrs. Harley Barden. The Freshmen served sandwiches, cake, and ice cream which was enjoyed by all. The party ended at ten, much to the disappointment of the students. 21 JUNIOR HIGH F ONT: B. Stakston, C. Myers, S. They were Yvette and Yvonne Meyer, Gail Glasso, Darlene Witty, Elaine Rude, Neale Spooner, Alfred Rysgaard, James Sieffins, Dale Wells, and Phyllis Christenson. The main event that year was initiation which we all enjoyed. (?) We pulled through initiation well enough to give a return party to our upper-classmen, the Sophomores. Our queen candidate was Darlene Witty. We started our Sophomore year with eleven members in the class. James Steffins and Dale Wells dropped out after the Freshman year. Keith Doughty entered Dakota Lutheran and Phyllis Christenson went back to Grenora after her Freshman year. In the middle of the year we lost two more members; they were Gloria Rude and Donna Roness. This was our year to initiate so we gave the Freshmen the doing-over . Our queen carnival candidate for the Sophomore year was Gail Glasso. As we entered our Junior year, things really started buzzing for us. We gained a new member, David Rude, which brought the total up to ten. Our first big event was our Junior class play. Here Comes Charlie, which was a big hit. Then came the Junior- Senior Prom and Banquet. Our queen candidate was Elaine Rude. Sept. 8, 1953, we entered our final year of schooling. We then had nine members in the class,'as David Rude was called in to the service, but we gained one more at sem- ester time, Kathlyn Kjos, to bring it up to ten again. We put on our class play in Nov- ember which was A Pair of Country Kids, again a big hit. Our queen candidate for this was Yvette Meyer. We never were fortuntate enough to gain the crowr. but we did get 2nd and 3rd places. This was our busiest year. We took our Skip Day May 13 arriving home on May 16. We went to the Black Hills in S. D. We all had a very good time and forgot about our sleep until the next morning at school. Baccalaureate services were held on May 23 at 2:00. Father Khun was our speaker. Graduation, the biggest event, was held on May 27. We had Rev. Thorpe from Epping as our speaker. 41 Autographs 42 Autographs 43 Compliments of CROSBY COMMUNITY CHEST CROSBY, NORTH DAKOTA FARMERS’ CO-OP. ELEVATOR COMPANY O. H. Berve, Mgr.
