SENIOR CLASS HISTORY In September, 1948,one of the smallest but most energetic classes ever to enter Noonan High School took their places as green freshmen on the vest side of the assembly. Our class was composed of 14 freshmen-three girls and eleven boys. We dreaded Freshmen Initiation with all fourteen of our little hearts but come It did as come It must. The sophomores as had been their cus- tom In grade school--entertalned us royally. We had really become stu- dents of our Alma Mater. Shortly thereafter, Loren Witty dropped out and left us with thir- teen members. Along about this time. Gall Stakston was elected presi- dent of our class. Perhaps making us even more Jittery was the Freshmen Return Party. However we got over this hurdle with ease and the major part of our freshmen year was over. One of the memorable events of our freshmen year was the famous basketball team of N. H. S. Gall Stakston was our queen candidate and Vernon Meyer our king candidate for our first year. At the start oft our sophomore year, we were minus three members-- all boys. Loren Logelln had dropped out to get a Job In Ambrose,. Gordon Glasso contracted an Illness during the summer and was unable to attend school the following semester. Dwelne Mclllroy returned to his home In California to continue school. Marilyn Barden was chosen for the president of our class this year As sophomores, of course, our first function of the year was to take out revenge for our Initiation pf thf previous year. This we did with glee, but we still think we got the greater share of the pun- ishment the year before. After our Initiation party, sophomore life faded more Into the background of studies, etc. The carnival provided an outlet for our energy however, and we had Marilyn Barden end Jerry VandeWalle for our queen and king candidates that year. We also had a real good class picnic that year didn’t we seniors? Delorls Tweet was our candidate for queen of Noonan High School the year we were Juniors. While Jerry VandeWalle was chosen as the president of our class. •Immediately after the carnival, we started on our Junior class play. The play, Babies Night Out , proved to be very successful---- that on top of the fun we had putting It on. Additional money was made that year by selling pop and fudge at basketball games. The Junior class also sponsored the Minot Teachers College Choir which appeared at the Memorial Hall that year. Our prom and banquet was held on May 5, 1950. We chose a Mexican theme for the banquet and a corresponding Patio Party for the prom. Again we ended our Junior year with a bang-up picnic. Our last big year----our senior year- -started September 11. As usual the task of herding our undergrads to the seats on the west side of the assembly and keeping the seats by the windows for ourselves. Believe it or not the majority of us are still holding them. Loren Witty was chosen as our senior class president. As always, the Freshmen Initiation Party and the Carnival are the first big events in the school year. Senior activities simmered dan somewhat during the last few months, but we still kept bust ordering our announcements and measuring for caps and gowns, etc. We presented the senior play, Romance in a Boarding House in April. Extra money for Skip Day was made by selling lunch at dances held during the schod year. We went to Bismarck and the Badlands for Skip Day and enjoyed to the fullest---to say the least. Some of us had more than our share of fun. Baccalaureate was held on Sunday, May 27, and class night on May 29, 1951. We nine seniors becsme alumni finally-on June 1. Long live the class of 51.
