Prophecy Well, here we are on June 15.1998, and the Class of 1988 is together again for the Tenth Year Reunion. Class advisors Mrs. Lavery and Ms. Rickart are directing the whole thing. At first, they could not de- cide where to have this gala event because they had a few choices-, either Mike Denniger’s $50 million estate, or Karl Gegenbach’s beautiful island on the equator. But. for sentimental reasons, they decided to have it at Nonnewaug High School. Some of our classmates didn’t have to travel very far to attend. Two of them. Eileen Burns and Lori Charett who both arrived with their husbands, are teaching at Nonnewaug. Others married and still living in Woodbury are Linda Bishop. Sloane Byrne. Angela Clyde and Jody Cooper. Seth Churchill and Tim Higley are carpenters here still. Bobby Pinard is in the house renovation business and lives in his house way out in the woods of this fine town. To our surprise, we found out that Meredith Selby. Amy Madans. and Kelly White decided to go into a convent right here in town. Everyone was shocked and never expected a change like that! Meredith keeps the convent clean while Amy lectures on procrastination. Kelly is the Mother Superior for the order. For entertainment. Andy O'Hazo and his band played their newest songs for the class. Kurt Berglund played his album of jazz. Matt Frisk, back from Sweden, played some of his now famous keyboard al- bums. While all this music was going on, Steve Dodge and Jim Dauten waited in their limo with their drinks and eight girlfriends each! We walked around to see all the faces we could recognize. Then we sat by the window to talk to Tim Corsi and his wife about their business. We saw Devin Callaway drive up in his 1997 Ferrari. He now lives in Beverly Hills where he spends his time soaking up some serious rays. Next to arrive were Chris Jones, Marge Smith, and Scott Thomas. They showed up in their Bermuda shorts, and had to leave their average suburban lives and shut off their Weber grills so they could be here. We heard Scott Ferris was arrested with a few of his mercenary friends in South America, so he could not attend. In attendance though was Dave Jenks, now a lawyer with a million dollar house and a new BMW. who was going to defend Scott. Good Luck! To our surprise, we noticed Negar Mahooti weighing in at nearly X)0 pounds, having put the Cadbury Chocolate Company out of business. When other guests arrived, we found out that many had come down from the north. Pat Callahan came from Massachusetts in his Lamborghini Countach to tell us about his engineering career. He is working on an engine that consumes no energy. Tami Ferris and Ralph Kerr are married with six children and living in Maine. Lisa Garms, also down from Maine, is working as a Veterinary Assistant. Valerie Hirschman came down from Vermont where she is living with her husband and two children in their dream log cabin. Cheryl Delacey and her hus- band Aaron and two children came from Massachusetts, as did Sandy Blakeman with her husband and three children. We learned that John Ruggerio is somewhere in the Maine woods. Enough from the North. From the South, we had Bob Wolff and Nancy Stockman arrive. They are now married and teaching their kids to rodeo. Nick Grzywacz is also in the South, Tennessee, to be exact. Andy Chapman, a real Dixie resident is also an engineer, but no one knows of what. The classmates who arrived by ship were Mike DeCourtin from Switzerland, and John DiLorenzo from Alaska. Speaking of ships, Angela Ciriello was showing everyone pictures of the wonderful places she has visited in her job as cruise director for a major cruise line. From the Hawaiian Islands we had marine biologists Kirsten Wuestefeld and Thea Randis. Thea is working for the government and is still a Yankee fan. Heather Evans came up from the Caribbean with her famous aviator husband and three children. Chris Evans showed up with his Mets uniform and said, My hot tub and two children are beautiful. Tom Edmonds then told us that he now owned his own landscaping business and spent part of the year in CT and the winter months in Florida. Oh. by the way. all the beautiful floral arrangements were supplied by Alison Jones from her own florist shop. We found Dyan Volage and she said she was still several planes above reality, but had also traveled the world extensively and become an antropologist. The fifty pizzas that everyone enjoyed eating were brought by Jason West, now living in Bethlehem and owning his own pizzaria there. Even though we didn’t have the reunion at Mike Denninger’s. he still came to the party. We found out that he and Nicole Laux are still dating. About the same time. Jodi Haeusgan and her husband Ja- son R. arrived in their new Corvette. We saw Jackie Maler who made it to the party even though it isn’t easy to get away from her job with the state. Cheryl Hamlin talked to us about her years at Col- orado State University. Also from Colorado we had Kevin Mallett. already rich and retired, and the most highly paid ski instructor in the state. Mike Mignone. Tom Mastroianni showed us beautiful pictures of the new house he designed himself. Scott Maxwell was there to use his skills and tape the whole event with his T.V. equipment. We had the Surgeon General of the United States himself, excuse us. herself among us. Yes, it was none other than Kim Prokop. Others we talked to were Jen Neal and Sarah Sebastian. They both married rich. Alma Smith told us of her marriage and sucessful career in science. We had a couple of psychologists in the crowd. Malinda Edgecomb and Melissa Skidd. Both are married and living well. Michelle Dubos finished work on her running shoe which doesn’t cause callouses and blisters, and expects to rake in big bucks on the idea. Jon Dobson told us about his lovely house in the country. Lisa Bowles had to make her way through reporters who wanted to talk to her about her very successful off-Broadway show. We had a couple of flyers in the crowd. Tammy Clark from the Air Force was quoted as saying. Yes, I am still single. Chris Lewis now owns his own major airline. Erik Lindstrom is also flying aircraft. Barbara Jenkins filled us in on her marketing and advertising business which is. of course, doing very well. She's married and has alot of horses. Kim Wilson also has horses and her own stable. She and Billy are doing very well and have two lovely children. Lori DeCosta is also working with horses, but in New York. She’s happily married and her two children each have their own pony. No one could believe that Joe Timm is now a Wall Street stockbroker. Laurie Varecka told us she was still searching for a cure for cancer. Susan Thorndike mentioned that she was teaching kindergarden. Kim Quinnan is now an executive in a major business firm. Ken Swart told us all about his farm in New Milford. We were all very proud of Alicia Wilde when we found out that she was a counselor for abused children. Chris Mace turned out to be a very successful pediatrician. Gail Hatfield is in the field of Animal Health, happily married, and living in the country. Rory Geddes told us about his construction business. He took over for his father and is doing very well. He is married and has three children. Frank Gugliotti, also in construction, is still living in Prospect and is still single and partying. Rounding out the happily marrieds with no financial difficultes and lots of children are Jessica Vitagliano, Kim Honcharik, Julie Duff, and Stacy Glander. We talked to Amanda Willard, living way out in the woods. Kira Gaenzler, somewhere over the rainbow chasing a dream, Jen Quesnel who has gone mobile, and Will Mahon is as far as he can go. Betsy Freer showed up modeling one of her newest hairstyles. Probably the most celebrated alumni are Julie Richardson who discovered a cure for AIDS, has won three Nobel prizes, is the hostess of her own talk show, and is making millions on her autobiography, and Steve Caisse, now the Prime Minister of England. To those of you who couldn’t attend, best wishes. See you in another ten years!!! Senior 31 SENIORS I 9 8 8 FIRIK ANDERSON Eurekan. Olie. Rock FFA. Cross Country. We stand looking into a future that both excites and scares us. Vet grad- uation is also a time for looking back through the years and sifting through our memories. In the midst of our most pleasant and painful times we have found a constant source of strength, encouragement, and love in you. our parents. You have been with us from the very beginning, laughing with us and crying with us. You have supported our new endeavors with a mixture of enthusiasm and parental concern. You have struggled to understand our different ideas and respect us as separate individuals. You have shared our triumphs, but more importantly you were there to help us out of our failures. When our worlds crumbled around us. you were there to pick up the pieces and help us build again. In times of distress you have risen to defend and protect us. In times of sorrow you have been there to comfort us. You have supported us when we needed it most, even when you were tired and hurt, in need of our help. Your faithfulness has ex- tended into the details of everyday life. You have always put our welfare above your own, giving freely of your time and energy. Over the years you’ve given us the best, and for all the times we rejected your guidance and fought against you. we were met with forgiveness. Looking back now. our greatest failure has probably been taking you for granted. Many times our ackwardness has kept us from expressing our affection openly. We always cared. We know our stubborness has sometimes tried your patience. In our struggling to find ourselves and become individuals, we might have pushed you away. Very soon we will be independent adults, facing the world on our own. As we leave our hildhood behind, we do not want to leave you behind. We still crave your love and guidance. We still want your respect. We want you to be proud of us. You are our parents, and that will never change, but your role in our lives now changes. We will no longer need a guardian and pro- vider. but we will need a true friend more than ever. We never chose you as parents, but now we are choosing you as friends. We dedicate this yearbook to you as a very small gesture of thanks for the past, but more importantly, as a prom- ise of close friendship for the future. 130 dedication sports index 131 Sports Index Boys’ Girls’ Basketball overall Northwest Thomaston Litchfield Gilbert Lewis Mills Oliver Wolcott Housatonic Shepaug Terry ville Northwest Wamogo Thomaston Litchfield Gilbert Lewis Mills Oliver Wolcott Housatonic Shepaug Terryville Wamogo 8-12 38-62 64- 55 55-64 82-58 59-74 72 63 55-66 43-72 74-52 46-59 61-49 63- 51 65- 73 50-62 35-60 64- 68 45-49 49 59 71-57 54-57 row I: David Rosen.Arleigh.
