NHS SPCRTS BANQUET HONORING OUR ATHLETES Uh, Things went a little differently at this year's Sports Ban- quet. For one thing, the coaches spoke a lot less! In addition to announcing the Most Valuable Players, each coach handed out Varsity letters to those of his players who earned them, as well as certificates of participation to the non-lettermen. The Sports Banquet is sponsored each year by the Nolan Viking Sports Club. Coach, I think I lost a certificate. Most Valuable Players Perhaps the best way to define an MVP is to quote Coach Bob Briggs' statement at this year s Sports Banquet: The Most Valuable Player isn't necessarily the star athlete, he isn't the guy who gets the most points or who has the most assists. He's the athlete who can give up personal glory for the team.
