Michelle Thomas receives the Eucharist from Fr. Publius Xuereb. Nolan's annual Spirit Mass was held on August 31, 1983. Students and faculty gathered in the gym to hear the Mass, which was celebrated by Fr. Dan Williams, Rev. Howard Hetzel, and Rev. Bill Paiz. HOWDY WEEK 1983 BEVERLY COMFORTS LITTLE SISTERS VICKI AND SANDRA AT THE HOWDY PICNIC. wif Q K 0 Ns .an , Ima KATHY AND THE CRUISERS! A TYPICAL FISH DISPLAYS HIS MATURITY LOOK MOM, NO FEET! Howdy Week festivities - the week of September 6 to 10- gave freshman and new students a chance to meet the old-timers . Whether or not the freshman made any new friends, they learned several new skills: riding tricycles - ever seen a 6 foot freshman on 2 foot tricycle'?g costuming - ever seen a crab walking down a crowded corridor'?g and proposing - ever seen Jason chase Beth? but will it last? The freshman managed to live through the week despite all their new skills and various forms of water torture indiscriminately administered by senior boys. For their endurance, the freshmen were rewarded with a sack lunch picnic around the Student Center complete with sack races and megaphone-spinning. Howdy Week '83 gave the freshman a look at the sophisticated attitudes of Nolan upperclassmen. Once they got their look, however, many of them wanted to get on their tricycles and ride home.
