Published by The Old Nokomis Staff Of N. H. S.---------------- Nokomis, Illinoi VOL. XLVII........................... 196 LINDA PIEPER----------------------- Editc LARRY KOTTWITZ------------Assistant Editc LILLIAN STOKES-------------------- Advise How! The Indians attacked Nokomis High School on August 26, 1963, and retreated on May 27, 1964. During the seige, many long and hard battles were fought with studies and sports. Many suns and moons have passed, and we have tried' to photograph the events and activities of our tribe here in the tepee. As the Indians guide you though old Nokomis ’64, we hope that many pleasant memories will return. Ugh! CONTENTS SPORTS DEDICA TION We, the annual staff, are proud to dedicate the 1964 Old Nokomis to Erdal Akalln, our foreign exchange student from Turkey, Erdal was chosen by the American Field Service because of his personal and academic qualities. Having spent the past year with the family of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Reincke, Erdal has become accustomed to the American way of life and has become a part of N.H.S. We will never forget this friendly and fine representative from Turkey, and we hope that Erdal will carry home many treasured memories and unforgettable experiences. With this dedication, Erdal, we hope that you have a safe journey home, and that you will find much enjoyment in this 1964 yearbook. Erdal at school. ED CARR Make-up: MISS BEVERLY ALFREJD In the first act, the Stage Manager gives a brief history of Grover's Corners, and the character of its citizens. You are taken into the Gibbs and Webb households where you live an entire day with these good people. The second act concerns the love affair between young George Gibbs and Emily Webb. It is climaxed with a moving wedding scene, that contains all those elements of sorrow and abundant happiness that make for solemnity and impressiveness. In the third act, we are led to the cemetery on the hill, where Emily has come to join many of the townspeople we have come to know so well. She is wishful to go back to life, and to live again with her memories. But she is shown how impossible it is to return, and decides it is best to forget life.
