L'JIIR I I 'I •0 Foreword We, the Old Nokomis Staff, have had a lot of fun working with Yogi this year. Mr. Maltese, his guardian, thought it was a good idea for Yogi to attend Nokomis High. Since Yogi had to go back to Jelly-stone Park, he only stayed with us a year and graduated with the Class of '60. The following pages tell the story of Yogi's year at NHS. We hope you enjoy it, because it's of you, by you, and for you! THE EDITORS w j - Superintendent ’s Message to Students Many forces working together help shape a students life in our high schools. One of the most potent is that indefinable, powerful thing we call school spirit. It represents an unselfish attitude of the student, is a source of the truest happiness of school days, and is a stimulus to high endeavor. What are you doing to make your high school an inspiring place for others in the future? Students seldom realize that they leave behind when they depart from a school, a part of themselves, interwoven into the life of the school. To be a worthy member of a good school is a great privilege. If you have the right school spirit, you can do nothing less than to throw all the power of your influence into the task of making your school a place where future students may learn how to meet and be true to the responsibilities and obligations of life. ELVER H. WENDLANDT Table oj ADMINISTRATION CLASSES ORGANIZATIONS Contents ACTIVITIES SPORTS We, the OLD NOKOMIS staff respectfull dedicate this annual to Mr. Edwin Gould who during the past seven years has encouraged and inspired the NHS band students to do their best. As a 1960 graduate, he knows that his opportunities are greater than they have ever been before. He realizes the advantage he will have over less educated bears. Other than financial advancements, he has learned many lessons in patience, understanding, and tolerance. If Yogi can learn these things in one short year of high school, surely we should have learned them in four.
