Achvlhes CORONATION OF FOO'1BALL QUEEN AND KING Standmg L Baxter E Pocock H Duddy L Gmbson S Popovxch l Neece G Hinton I G1pson W Orm ,I Zxmmerman F Stapleton V Pullen jones Sxttxng W Buescher A Carroll M Montx F Shalbot F Davxto L Graden W Ferfecky D Schaefer M jones R Peters Carnival The Annual Hlgh School Carmval was held on the nlght of November 16 at N T H S Some of 1ts features were a one act play Hrs Flrst Dress Sult The Faculty Zoo The Fortune Teller The Hall of Terror and the N T H S H1 llghts and Broadcastmg Studlo The pxocesslonal was followed by the crown1ng of Luc1le Graden as Football Queen and Frank Davlto as Football Kmg along wlth the1r at tendants After the crownmg there followed a grand promenade before the royal party of all partlclpants ln the Carnlval The recessloflal of thls grand assemblage closed another successful Carn1val M W Bug and LlH'le Sister Party On the afternoon of September 26 durmg the elghth hour a party was glven 1n the Gym The guests were the Freshman glrls and the Semor glrls acted as host esses Before the program the Semor glrls were lntroduced to thelr Llttle Slsters and then all occupxed the bleachers durmg the remalnder of the hour The program conslsted of a readmg by Ruth Bollman and dances by Dorothy Schaefer The three Semor H1 Trl officers each gave a short speech At the close of the program the Blg and Llttle Slsters Jomed hands and sang a song as a pledge of frlendshlp The party closed wnth the servlng of refreshments L G The Junior Wiener Roast The JUHIOFS held thenr wlener roast Tuesday mght October 2 1934 at Monroe Berns home After slttmg on logs and swappmg storxes all reverted to thelr early chlldhood days and played the games dear to the heart of a srx year old Thxs exerclse alded the dxgestlve organs wxth the roasted wxeners and marshmallows that had so mysterlously dlsappeared earlxer ln the evenxng M C Thirty one 00000000 000000 0 OOO :. ,. ,. ,. ,, .L. ,. ,. , -.. .. ,. . Sophomore Freshman Wiener Roast The Sophomores 1nv1ted the Freshmen to go Dutch w1th them on a wrener 1oast at Schaefers Grove It was set for September 26th but the weatherman de llberately planned a ramy mght so xt was postponed untll October 4th Games were played and then wleners buns and marshmallows vanished rapldly A good tlme was had by all A V Senior Wiener Roast On the beautrful moonllght mght of September 25 the Semors held therr annual wlener roast at Ben Kettelkamps grove Early 1n the evenmg a large crowd gath ered who after a five mlle rlde and a crawl under a fence roasted wxeners and marsh mallows When all had eaten as much as they cared for games were played untxl everyone was ready to drop from exhaustlon Group Slflglng followed whlch was brought to a clxmax wrth a dellghtful OJ song rendered by the faculty Mlss Prrcher then related many rnterestmg mcrdents of her v1s1t ln France As all good thmgs must end and as the football boys were m tramlng all reluc tantly found therr cars started the motors and wended thelr way homeward some takmg the longest route L W Senior Junlor Party The Jumors and Faculty were royally entertamed by the Semors on the mght of December 19 At the begmnmg of the party there was a mckel hunt All became very well acquamted by shakmg hands 1n search of the mckels Then the doors were opened and we were ushered mto a beautlfully decorated room whlch remmded us We were entertamed by pxano selectlons a one act play four skits a few vocal selectrons by the Semor boys tno and a mxxed octette Every one entered mto the games whrch followed wxth much enthusrasm and apparently had a good trme DCllClOUS refreshments were served on small trays Then best of all Santa Claus gave each a bag of candy All departed at a late hour never to forget the Semor Jumor Party A M Communuty Tournament The fourth annual Commumty Tourney Jan 2 3 4 was agam sponsored by the Athletrc ASSOC13t10n There were three d1v1s1ons rn thls tourney the gxrls the school boys and the independents Each year these contests are more and more looked forward to and lt IS the general w1sh of all that they wlll be continued Pep! The problem of selectlng some peppy cheer and song leaders was easxly solved by chooslng Hazel Hlnton Lorene Glbson Bruno Rossr and Robert Goodwin wlth Exleen Pocock as plamst There was a general uproar rn school when a pep meet mg was mlssed for these leaders were sure to have thought up somethmg peppy and orlgmal Assembly Programs New song books have been provxded for the entlre Assembly so that songs may be sung each mormng Thls lends a cheerful atmosphere to the school and IS a sure cure for the blues Along wrth thls means of entertamment the Faculty has pro vlded varlous forty five mmute and several ten mmute programs for the Assembly The talent has been from the school and commumty These programs have given lIlSplf3tlOl'l recreatlon and entertalment for all Thirty two oooooooo 9 ,,,,., O ' ' CC 9!
