SECRETARY I Mrs. Smith PRINCIPAL Mr. Duker Dear Seniors, You ask if we will write the few words that usually appear on the principal’s page in your year book. This is a pleasure! It has required some little thought to choose a principle of philosophy to make the page purposeful. We hope the one we have chosen will pass the test. This is your graduation. We congratulate you! The term graduation implies progression from one position, or state, to another. You will never graduate from tests. In the past you have used the term “testing” in relation to subject matter. You generally were informed in advance of the time of testing. Your tests in the future will generally be “sprung” on you. Real tests in conscience, character, and capacity can’t be anticipated and announced. You must be ready to take them at any time. It is within the capacity of each of you to pass the tests in both conscience and character. Your happiness depends upon making better than average grades in both. Please do not fail them! Sincerely, C. 0. Duker 7
