SCHOOL PRINCIPAL MR. C. O. DUKER Noble Students, I recall that in the 1954 Treasure Chest I gave you a recipe for happiness. This last Christmas I was given a better illustration than any I knew at that time. Now, three years later, | add to my previous message. Children are sometimes taught to make wishes—over wishbones, lost teeth, shooting stars, etc. We don’t really expect the wishes to come true but we make them think that they will if they wish hard enough. Sometimes we encourage them to make “three wishes” just to give us some hint as to what they- want for Christmas. For some such reason and as a follow-up, I asked our daughter if she got all she “wished for” for Christmas. She said, ““Yes,—well there were some things that I wanted but I did not think I could get them, so I didn’t wish for them.” Maybe that is just being practical, or even clever, but it did make her a nice Christmas.
