Shortly following the trip to L U. the band went to Manchester College to participate in another band day. On both of these trips, the band saw very exciting football. They have also been in numerous parades in Wabash. During the basketball season the band displayed their fine marching ability by perfCrming at almost every home game. When the big band wasnât playing the (Jerman band played. This was composed of several selected members of the regular band. We feel the band had a very successful year! HOLLIOfiYS HfiR. VERNIS HOLLIDAY Director The Noble High School Chorus this past year has been very active. Among the activities that the chorus participated in were the Christmas program and the Spring Festival. The group also went caroling around Wabash and out to the County Farm at Christmas time. Many boys responded to the call for members, so the chorus had an adequate male section for the first time in several years. Left to right: Beverly Moore, Joann Hansing and Evelyn Peas. This was made possible through the efforts put forth by the faculty advisor, Mr. Howard Uhrig. Due to his splendid co-operation with the students on the council, much has been accomplished. Two hundred and twenty subscribers received their issues biÂŹ monthly. When the occasion arose, such as Christmas and Valentineâs Day, a special issue was put to press. The regular publication usually consisted of eight pages which included feature stories, editorials, grade school news and gossip, which was most important as far as the students were concerned. With every issue of the Noble News, we gained experience and knowledge in the field of journalism. Our Sponsor THANKS! We, the Seniors of 1953, wish to express our- sincere appreciation to Mr. Kurtz for the many hours of work, both during school and after, that he so graciously gave to help make our school paper and annual a success. Also, we would like to extend our appreciation to Miss Mansfield for the extra hours she spent in helping us produce your copy of the Noble News. Mechanical . . . SENIOR PLAY The Senior class of 1953 presented their play âRoom for One Moreâ on October 29, 1952. Written by William Davidson, the story is based upon the book by Anna Perrott Rose Wright. It is a story of a family. Poppy and Mother Rose, and the children that came to live with them. Of course they have a couple of their own children, but they canât resist a homeless child no matter how hard it is to make ends meet. They live in a cottage by the ocean, which is called the âPumpkin Shell.â The play is a story of the laughters, headaches, and pleasures of this family. The cast, stage crew, and prompters will probably long remember the long hours, lectures and the fun of putting on the play. As Shakespeare said: âThe playâs the thing.â STAGE CREW ONE MORE umHinoon Go, Noble High School, Fight right through that line. With your colors flying. We will cheer you all the time. So come the echoing strains of our school song. But our school is not the only symbol for which these words stand. They stand as an inspiration for each member of the Booster Club. The club, with a membership of approximately one hundred students, is under the supervision of Mrs. Mary Baker, the faculty advisor. The elected officers of the club are: President _ Vice President _ Secretary _ Assistant Secretary Treasurer _ Beverly Wolf rum Mary Thompson Carol Davenport _ James Snapp Frances Pearson CHEER LEADERS Beverly Wolf rum, Carol Hendry, Sandy Bennett It is the job of the boys on our basketball team to get out on the floor and win the games for Noble. It is the responsibility of the Booster Club to back the boys with their yells and keep up the spirit of the game. This is important, so could you imagine what would happen if there were no one to guide and control the clubâs yelling? We shudder to think of it, and we donât have to. We have three able girls who do an admirable job of leading us in yells. They are Beverly Wolf rum, Carol Hendry, and Sandra Bennett. Beverly is a Senior and has been a cheerleader for two years. Carol is a Junior. This is her first year at Noble. She didnât come here unprepared, though, as she was a cheerleader at Chippewa last year. Sandy (as she is known), is no new hand at this business, either. She was a cheerleader along with Beverly last year. So, to these girls we say, THANKS.
