During his warTime service .on desTroyers, Commander Rood parTicipaTed in I7 major baTTles, and was awarded The Navy-Marine Corps Medal. ConTinuing in Tin Can Navy, Commander Rood served aboard The USS SMALL lDD 838l as ExecuTive OT- Ticer unTil I947. During This Time The SMALL was in The European TheaTre wiTh The SIXTH FleeT. ATTer aTTending The General Line School, Commander Rood enTered George WashingTon UniversiTy's Law School and compleTed The course in l95O. ln AugusT I95O, he Took command of The USS RABY lDEC 698l.
