INTERESTING DATA The schools of the Nixon Independent School District represent much in the every day life of this particular area, drawing students from four counties included in the boundaries of the district, Gonzales, Guadalupe, Karnes and Wilson. The area of the district is 2.20 . 5 square miles witha scholastic population of 778. ' The Superintendent and 27 teachers are responsible for the instruction and extra-curricular activites connected with the public school education. of the children. The Elementary School is composed of an administration building and six units, housing 12 sections of the first five grades with an enrollment of 410. Six classrooms serve theiJunior High comprising the sixth, seventh and eighth grades with a total enrollment of 166. One hundred seventeen high school students occupy the six classrooms and use the spacious library, science laboratory, HomemakingCottage, Vocational Agriculture building, Bobcat Band Hall and Gymnatorium. A full time secretary serves the superintendent and teachers in many useful ways . Six bus dr ive r s travel a total of 510.6 miles each day during the 175 days of school to convey 285 students to classes.
