We started our Sophomore year electing as our class officers, Steve Casebolt, President; Zee Cunningham, Vice President; and Harvey Collins, Secretary-Treasurer. We shared the experience of organizing our class to present a Homecoming Hall, using the theme, “Wildcat Country.” Zee Cunningham escorted by Jeff Johnson, represented our class in Homecoming as Sophomore attendant. As Juniors we created the ideal prom, and presented the Seniors of 1969 with a “Tahitian Holiday.” Under the leadership of Harvey Collins, President; Danny Gray, Vice President; and Mary Fortney as Secretary-Treasurer, our Junior class put out a great effort and created the Junior hall for Homecoming, “Indians Romp, Wildcats Stomp.” Debbie Dawson escorted by Kenny Thompson was the Junior Attendant to Miss Wildcat. Then came the day that all Juniors wait for, the day we received our class rings. As now respected Seniors, we chose as our class song: “A Time For Us.” Our class motto is: Learning to do Doing to learn Learning to serve Serving to live. Our class colors are: blue and gold, and our flower is the Orchid. As Seniors, we started many new traditions, beginning with a winning football season, which was highlighted by our Homecoming. The student body chose Jane Moody, Becky Carnes, and Pam Hatfield as attendants to Miss Wildcat, Brenda McHenry. The Seniors were victorious in float competition with the leadership of Danny Gray, our President, Joe Jividen, Vice President and John Hawley, Secretary-Treasurer with the float, “Eagles turn Chicken.” The first Annual Mountaineer Week was held during the week of Dec. 8-12. Again victory was with the Senior Class in the Mountaineer Olympics. “An Old Fashioned Christmas” was the highlight of the winter season as the Student Council presented the annual Winter Formal, Dec. 27, crowning Debbie Dawson as Snow Queen. A bad case of Spring Fever was contracted by the Senior Class March 11, 1970, causing 215 absences. The plague was halted as the administration agreed to give the absentees a 3-day recuperation period. The talented Senior Class presented a 2 act play, “The Mouse that Roared”, March 25. The grand finale of our Senior year was Class Day, “WNHS - 70 on your dial.” The Dawning of the “Age of Aquarius”, marks the beginning of a new decade for the Class of 1970. 39 Vicki Abbott John Adair Nancy Adam Barry Adkins 40 Mike Adkins Bob Agee Bob Angel Dolly Angel Debbie Arthur Elaine Arthur Ron Asbury 41 Kenneth Atkins William Atkins Harry Baer Karen Bailey Jim Bailey Nancy Bailey 42 Rosalie Bailey Nick Barth Tom Bailey Julie Beard Evelyn Balser Deidre Beasley 43 Bud Bennett Bill Bird Dave Bess Roger Bogges Debbie Bills Beverly Baldwin Patti Bowlin Jody Boggs Oshel Bonnett Bruce Brick Eddie Bridgette Ted Britton 45 Joe Brown Shelia Bush Rebecca Carnes Edward Carney Beverly Carpenter Richard Carpenter Steve Casebolt Michael Chapman 47 John Collins Larry Chaney Travis Cowley Debbie Combs Joe Combs Cheryl Cooke 49 Michael Counts Leah Cox Sue Crawford Dale Cunningham Thomas Cunningham Kathy Dailey Douglas Davidson Terry Davis Joanna Davis Melanie Dawson Ray Darnell Rick Davis 51 Debbie Dawson Penny Degler Don Derrick Carol Eastwood Valerie Eckenrode Glendale Dorsey Martin Doss Wanda Doss Bob Evans Jeffery Erwin Sandra Downie Cecil Dye Jennie Eads Larry Fadal Melba Farley 53 David Ferrari Rick Fields Gloria Finley Sharon Finley 54 Gayle Fisher Valerie Fore Mary Fortney Bonnie Frazier Cathy Frazier Donald Gandee 55 Don Games David Gibson Michael Gibson Sandy Gibson 56 Joyce Gill David Gillispie Sue Goff Sandra Hacr Danny Gray Cheryl Hall Debbie Haekworth Bill Hamilton 57 Mike Hamra Sarah Hardman Jim Hancock Gary Harris Roger Hanna Roger Harris 58 Fred Harmon Pam Hatfield Tom Hartley Greg Haverty Ferman Harvey John Hawley 59 Dana Hedrick Bill Hicks Jan Higginbotham Debbie Wall Hill PamGandee Hill Jim Hissom 60 Eleanor L. Now that you have graduated you must answer the inevitable question-“now what?” For all of you it means the continuation of studies in one way or another, because learning must and will continue throughout your lives. In the years to come you may have no more report cards or examinations, but everything you do will be judged realistically. Your preparation for every goal will be carefully watched, thoughtfully evaluated. Your courses have given you the tools for thought and judgment. S. COFFMAN, JR., Nitro, West Virginia O.D. Now that you’re ready to write your own ticket... aren’t you ready to write your own checks? Wc think so. And right now’s a good time to pick out your bank, open a checking account, and get started toward where you want to go. Maybe you have a full time job with a good future all lined up. Or maybe you’ll be working summers or part time to help pay for college. The thing is. for the rest of the way you’ll be managing your own money, on your own. And a checking account is the easy, businesslike way to handle it. You don’t have to carry a lot of cash around with you. and your cancelled checks serve as a record and a receipt. As time goes on, more and more of what you’ll do and plan for will involve doing your own banking, so it’s kind of important to decide now where you’ll do it. Stop in, won’t you, and take a minute or two to get your checking account started with us? And. anytime you have questions about finances. do come in and talk them over with us.
