Nitro was given the privilege of representing two nations at the March 16 Security Council meeting. Above, mem- bers of the Syrian delegation brood proceedings during debate on the Middle East Crisis. As the leading representa- tive, Danny Williams took part in floor debate. His assistants are: Gail Williams, Jane Williams, Dorothy Mynes, Sheila Baxter, Grey Stonestreet, Sam Maheffey, John Payne, and David Guinn. Proceedings were skillfully directed by “President” David Smith, who has par- ticipated in the Model Uni- ted Nations ever since its birth in 1964. For three years he was an active delegate from Nitro; his experience led to appoint- ment as President, the most demanding position in the mock Council. With out his supervision, little would have been accom- plished through the long day. Here, he consults with Secretary-General A- kan E. Usanga, Parliamen- tarian George Jacque, and Secretary Mrs. Hereford. 22
