Marshall University Mathematics For many years mathematics has provided a stirring challenge to students attending Nitro High School. Many of our graduates have been granted college credit for courses taken in high school. The mathematics department offers a varied program ranging from elemen- tary courses in computation skills to probabil- ity, statistics and introductory calculus; thus providing a stimulus for every student with an eager and inquiring mind regardless of his in- terest field. SOCIAL STUDIES DEPARTMENT In our world of today, every citizen must know the internal workings of his local, state, and national government as well as the history behind them. Today it is a necessity that America produce well- informed active citizens. The citizens of tomorrow will be better informed and ready to take their place through such courses as American and World History, Problems of Democ- racy and Economics which are offered by the Social Studies Department at Nitro.
