WE DEDICATE To those who know thee not. No words can paint; And those who know thee, Know all words are faint. Hannah More Nine years of dedicated service have not changed the soft-spoken, easy manner in which he has conducted his classes. His unhurried gait, characteristic of his teaching, has prompted one student to re- mark. He never makes us feel hurried, but he keeps us up to date with our work. To you, Mr. Shank, who has the heart to conceive, the under- standing to direct, and the hand to execute, we the seniors of 1965 dedicate our yearbook......THE NITRONIAN. 6

IN RECOGNITION Mr. Fay Harper Recognition is seldom given to that small select group of people in all walks of life who give of themselves unselfishly and contribute their time and energy to the well-being of others. These people who seem tireless in their desire to help their fellow man are always around to lend a helping hand when needed. For the past twenty-two years Nitro High School has been most fortunate to have Mr. Fay Harper on its faculty. There is not one senior in Nitro High who does not remember his Junior-Senior prom, and the man most responsible for the elaborate decorating. Mr. Harper serves as cashier in the cafeteria, collects tickets at every football and basketball game, and acts as a chaperon on band trips. He partic- ipates in many other activities above and beyond the call of duty. Long after all other teachers have gone home for the day, one can usually find Mr. Harper working in his laboratory, going over papers or checking equipment for the next day’s assignment. After spending forty years in the teaching profession, Mr. Harper is retiring this year. Words are in- adequate to express the warm affection of all at Nitro High School. We say . . . Thank you, Mr. Harper. 8
