DEDICATION Drawn by the warm, fresh aroma of baking breads and the savory enticement of culinary delights, we come to the entrance of room No. 111. As we stand there drinking in the familiar sights and sounds of home, a small, cheerful woman turns toward us. On her face we see reflected a continuing memory of the satisfaction of long devotion to the education of future homemakers. In 1924 Miss Virginia Martin was added to the faculty of Nitro High School, as a teacher of home economics. During the Easter season of 1925, she became Mrs. Harry K. Miller. With the exception of an absence of one and one-half years, she has taught continuously. During her career she has been beset by many problems all of which she has overcome with insight and patience. There was, however, one which she could not quite resolve. In the last days of the old school building, rain would come dripping through the roof. Of course, all hopes of cooking were lost since all pots and pans were needed to catch the rain. The loud dripping of the water into the utensils was so distrubing that nothing could be done. Finally, however, the new building was completed and Mrs. Miller was moved into a modern kitchen. Not only has Mrs. Miller's effort been applied to academic pursuits, but also to extracurricular activities through sponsorship of several clubs. In honor and appreciation of this devotion and long service, we, the Senior Class of Nitro High School, dedicate the 1962 WILDCAT to Mrs. Virginia Miller. p. xkl jUa. j ‘Tt-. CT ft I
