INDUSTRIAL ARTS Never to be forgotten by most boys are the hours spent in industrial arts classes at NHS. Here they learn skills which will be invaluable to them-- for handy- man” jobs, in hobbies, and, for many, in their occupations. HOME ECONOMICS We will never forget our first adventures in sewing under the com- petent guidance of Mrs. Bockway. In sewing, the girls of Nitro learn to select patterns and materials best suited to them. They learn to apply this knowledge by making clothes for themselves. PHYSICAL EDUCATION Both boys and girls alike will cherish memories of physical educa - tion classes. Realizing that physical welfare is as important as intellectual growth, Nitro High School has set up a pro- gram which helps keep the student physically fit as well as encouraging fair play, sportsmanship,and charac- ter development.

MUSIC Music appreciation is necessary for a well-rounded person. In music class, some students discover hidden talents and decide on a musical career. To most of us, how- ever, music is a means by which we can enjoy ourselves. ART Beauty is added to our lives by the appreciation of art. At Nitro, art students learn neat- ness, art coordination, landscaping, architecture, and the history of art and artists. ■ LANGUAGES Both Latin and Spanish are offer- ed at Nitro to help round out the stud- ents' education. The study of foreign languages not only teaches us about other lands and people, but also helps in the study of English.
