Many graduating classes of Nitro High School have dreamed of a new, modern school building; have thought, perchance, that they would be the first to be graduated in it. But to you, the members of the class of 1955, goes that signal honor. Yours will always be referred to in the years ahead as the first class to finish in our new, million dollar building. The faculty and I are proud of you because of the pride you have shown in taking care of this new building and its expensive furnishings. As far as we know, not a scratch, mark, or defacement have you left on its walls. For this splendid display of school citizenship during your senior year you are to be congratulated. It is my hope that future classes will emulate this record of yours, so that when you return to visit your old school at some future date the appearance of the building and its furnishings will be a monument to the graduating class of 1955.
