TIGERS CLAW S. C. ELEVEN Tigers Down S. C. Team By 20-To-S Score The Ninth Avenue Tigers en¬ ded their 1954 grid season last night at the high school stadium with a 20-6 victory over Fair Forest, S. C. The game was hard-fought throughout and featured the run- nine of Cleveland Nesbitt. The Tigers scored late in the first period when Nesbitt faded to pass, found his receivers cover¬ ed, and raced 30 yards behind good blocking for the first score. Gardin kicked the extra point. In the third quarter, Nesbitt reeled off a 62-yard run from the Tigers 8-yard line. After two first downs, fullback Smith bucked over from the four. Gardin again kicked the point. The South Carolina rored its lone touchdown bird quarter. The final marker came on a 30-yard ! The Ninth Avenue High School Tigers gave their school a perfect homecoming with a 29-0 win over Well ford, S. C., at the high school stadium last night. The game was bitterly contest¬ ed by a scrapping South Carolina eleven most, of the way with the Tigers breaking away for three touchdowns and adding three ex¬ tra points to ice the game in the fourth period. The Tigers scored a TD in the first period but failed to add the extra point. Neither team was able to score in the third and the Tigers were going away in the fourth period. Cleveland Nesbitt tallied twice for the Tigers and Cary Booker and Mack Garden once apiece. Nesbitt and Gardin added the ex¬ tra points by rushing. The football game was the cli¬ max for the annual Home Coming ceremonies which began with a. street parade of bands and floats during the afternoon. The Steph¬ ens Lee band from Asheville join-, ed the local musicians for the parade and also for the halftime ceremony at the stadium.
