OMC 0 arid -4 1. 198 Closing The sophistication of the Raphael Ballroom in the Wyndham Hotel had an added touch of class on the evening of Friday, May 3, 1985. Its added magnificence was the 1985 Nimitz Senior Prom. This year's Seniors furthered the Wyndham Hotel's elegance with their chosen theme, A Touch of Class. The gala event, which surpassed almost everyone's expectations, resulted from four years of hard work from many dedicated Seniors. Fundraisers, class meetings and helpful sponsors made the prom everything that it had been dreamed and more. At their weekly meetings, Seniors chose their class song, colors, motto and theme that 2. 1. Friendships are special as demonstrated here by Dana Carpenter and Don Helm- bach. 4. Barbara Madray is astonished that prom went by so quickly. 5. Seniors HGET DOWN at the Wyndham. 6. lTHi Darling, says Karen Bondrant. 7. Ron Moretez and his date sit one out. 8. Prom King and Queen: Frank Martinucci and Cheryl Leach, were all a part of the prom. Before arriving at the Wyndham Hotel in their rented limos or Lin- colns, many Seniors went to dinner in downtown Houston. The ladies, dressed in their stylish evening gowns, and the gentlemen in their tuxes, dined at exquisite restaurants such as Vargo's and the Carlisle prior to making their appearances at the prom, Snapshots recorded the memory of the wonderful event that was so anxiously an- ticipated. Then it was off to the Wyndham. The prom was the Seniors' dreams come true. Attendants greeted the Seniors and held the door open to the extravagant hotel so they could make their grand en- trances. The Raphael Ballroom had been transformed by elaborate decorations done in the class colors of black and silver, One wall sported an ornate buffet that was decorated by two ice sculptures. Seniors danced to the pop music played by disc jockey Mike lax. Everything was perfectly done for a memorable evening. At a few minutes after midnight, the dance floor was cleared and the candidates for Prom King and Queen were brought to the band- stand. Then the winners were an- nounced and the Prom King and Queen, Frank Martinucci and Cheryl Leach, enjoyed a solo dance together in front of the Seniors. All too soon the clock struck one a.m. and the 1985 Nimitz Senior Prom was over. Along with the table decorations and souvenirs, the class of 1985 took many beautiful memories with them from the Wyndham Hotel. May 3, 1985 was truly a night with a touch of class.
