We are assembled here this Saturday to leave behind us years of mental torture, sorrow, but most of all - happiness. We have friends with whom we must part and routines which must be reformed and disciplined. We are to gain experience and to live life to its fullest. We find ourselves asking what will become of us, a single Class of people, high school students, in an endless system - a world of reality. Do not despair, we travel a road built with the minds and lives of others before us. Seven years ago, Nimitz was built to educate the future generations: to teach us how to live. ln given time we will too dedicate our lives and efforts to develop this world. Today we exit a picture of our lives. Years from now, the stilness of our por- trait's a resemblance will force tears from our eyes. We will remember failing Mr. Brown's class. More importantly, we will recall ioyous occasions. In ten years, we will remember our high school period, when we learned so much about people. We may have acquired knowledge of Mathematics, BioloSY, English, Physics, l-hstory - these are for our minds. No doubt, years from now, we may forget much of our technical knowledge. However, we have learned friendship, trust, commaraderie - these are for ourselves, and they will never escape us. Today, we leave our dearest friends - the poeple who so kindly aided us in 196 Closing Toda We Follo Tomorrow We L a distressful moments. Recall the confusion, frustration, you have felt over relationships or school. You have always had a friend to depend on. And now is a time of sacrifice, we must leave behind us an entire period of our Hves and the people we have known for most of our childhood. Those of you have not felt these frustrations and questioned your identity, do not feel in' adequatep it is you that will have a mid-life crisis. We shall not depart from Nimitz Senior High School without leaving an impression upon those to graduate in years ahead. Each future class will be a legacy to the last. Each of us, each person to walk through the halls of our school will encompass our thoughts. We are united one last time as one conscience. As a group, l plead that you remember this moment, it is' perhaps the greatest change in our lives. Today, we are deaf to our souls' cries of loneliness and despair. And we are bhnd to the faces we will most likely not see again. Empathize with me, and feel each other's thoughts. Today is the most solitary day of our lives. For we feel nervousness: we have no certainty, no guarantee of the future. Stand firmly and proudly - we, the class of 1985, have iust begun. Foresight wams us of distress, but we hold our destiny in our palms. Let us smile and have jovial spirit for the culmination of this day, this picture in time. I fi 5 V ..ig sl 1 S it
