1- Wilderness Adventuresome Cougars, Prowl. This year the Cougars prowled through the wilderness seven times. The best and most memorable hike was in San Marcos during Spring Break at Perdenales Falls State Park. At the hikes, lazy days were spent fishing and enjoying the outdoors. The club has been noted for experiment- ing also. One experiment was that they made hot water using solar energy. !'You have to be there to have and understand how fun it is, said Senior Don Heimbach. 2. 3. 4. Organizations W ff .Q ,K , 'IK 1. -1- S.A.D. Happ to be S.A. . Each year many lives are taken away because of the use of drugs. Whether it's drunk driving, or drugs such as mari- juana, LSD, or cocaine. Many of the lives could have been saved if action would have been taken. This year at Nimitz such action has already been put into effect. Mr. john Pecoraro and Coach Kirk Hall, sponsors of Students Against Drugs, have required members to sign a form committing themselves to fight against drugs. Also members wear t- shirts displaying their cause, As the year progressed more students began to take action. According to Principal lack Welch, he would like to have as many students involved at Nimitz to join the new club. 3, 51? I ' nll 1. This year Nirnitz Future Farmers of America, QFFAJ, used this as their motto. Many of the cowboys participated in rodeos. The main rodeo was Lucky Lady in Humble on December 16, 1984. lt was here that the motto was adopted. Kevin Lucas, Mark Scherer, Shannon Chapman, Ken Tullos, and Steven Hoffmeyer all rode bulls. With the buzzer broken for the sounding of the end of a ride, not to mention bad weather, the boys had a hard day of bad luck. Steve Hoffmeyer experienced cracked ribs and Ken Tullos a broken hand on their rides. After the rodeo, everyone attended a dance. Tim Tiller and Chet McBride played in the band while the others kicked up their heels and danced the night away. Around the month of February, many of the students participated in judging at the Houston Livestock Show. There were two teams that Nimitz produced, a dairy team and a livestock team, The dairy team judged cows and the livestock team judg- ed sheep, bulls and horses. Lonnie lohnson was honored with being Nimitz 1984-1985 FFA Sweetheart. Organizations 171
