Drama presented All the Way Home to Nimitz in january. The production proved to be a very powerful performance. Debate High Above Normal Standards Finishing off the year with four members qualifying to state com- petition, the debate squad has reason to be proud. At the beginning of the year, the squad wasn't quite sure how to react towards House Bill 72. The members normally go to 12- 15 tournaments through the year but this year they only went to eight. lf anything stood in our way, it was the state legislation hampering us, says Senior member Derek Drawhorn. UThe team has so much to be proud of, said Mrs. Paula Vin- zant, coach. This year the teams of Derek Drawhorn!Mark Mason and Doug Venverloh!Arthur Lim ad- vanced to state competition. At this competition, Drawhorn!Mason placed 5th and Venverlohf Lim placed ninth. They also received two extra awards, Top Speakers, Mason first and Drawhorn third. 1. - Thespians - Actively lnvolved Thespians is an international honor drama fraternity established for the advancement and recognition of the students of the theatre. The name Thespians comes from the ancient Greek actor Thespus who was the father of actors or the first actor. Thespians is a service organization designed to promote the theatre. Becoming a member of Thespians is not an easy task. ln order to become a member, a person must earn a total of ten points - each point being worth ten hours of hard work. Points can be obtained by play participation, technical work, and other designated activities. Members of the Thespian Society participate in the Drama fundraisers under the direction of Miss Karen Stewart. The Drama Department is doing three different productions that the Thespians will participate. The club currently has fourteen members.
