Extra 1- Cougar Carrier --- EXJETFET Read Almbourn Pm' Extra Extra . . . Read All About it. The thankless life of a journalist was well known to Cougar Carrier staff members. The young but dedicated staff went about daily duties writing copy, arranging pictures and columns, carrying on the search for news and matters of interest. The staff's hard work was rewarded only by having to give up a lunch or a study hall to peddle the latest issue to students. The newspaper served to keep students in- formed on the activities, honors, current events, and anything from movie reviews to politics. On a lighter note, students were able to have Santa Claus letters, nominations for Cupid Sweethearts, and Valentine Wishes printed in two of the Carrier's seasonal papers. Cheerleaders Overcome Obstacles With Determination, hope, and willpower were the words used to summarize the Cougar Cheerleaders. They were deter- mined for excellence and hoped for victory. Senior Co-Head, Denise Wilson said, llBeing a cheerleader takes a lot of time but in the end, it's terrific and fun. There were a few changes that the cheerleaders had to adapt to in order to get the year started, such changes includ- ed: receiving a new sponsor and House Bill 72. The new sponsor, Bonnie Williamson, was no problem. The girls all felt she did a good job. 'lShe tries real hard and is there if we need help, said junior Lori Woods. The new House Bill 72 was quite different. For starters, the girls lost their two-hour class in which they could practice cheers, stunts, and gymnastics, which get ready for the pep rallies, and make the signs for the upcoming game. This resulted in longer after-school practices.
