National Honor Society T- A Combination of Qualities What is the only organization at Nimitz combining academic excellence, schoolwide leadership, service, and citizenship? None other than the National Honor Society. Under the direction of Miss Sandra Finch, Honor Society held key meetings throughout the year to discuss their projects. Students are selected to be in the society by teacher recommendation and class rank. This past year, the chapter inducted sixty new members. This was the largest induction that Nimitz has held and the largest membership with a total of seventy-eight members. Several meetings were held before induc- tion night in order to gather the new members together and inform them of their duties and obligations. During December, the society contributed a variety of fruit baskets to the needy. Fund- raisers began early in February with the society selling seven flavors of popcorn. This turned out to be a large success, raising over S1000 profit. The money was used for scholarships given to two senior members. The society also held a banquet in May celebrating the suc- cessful year, 134 Organizations 1.
