Freshmen Had Desire The Nimitz Freshman Basketball competed well this year and showed a lot of loyalty to the game of basket- ball. The Frosh had a desire to learn more about the game. They also realize that in time, they will be the team to beat in District 21-5A. Cap- tains Mark Robinson and Tracy Garner held the team together throughout the season. Reginald Larry, Thomas DiPerna, Rusty Lairo, and Stanley johnson were strong players for the Freshman Cougar Basketball team. Coach Daryl Wade said, UAS the Frosh coach l feel that the Cougars played well during the season. There were downfalls, but we got together and tried to overcome them. Good luck Cougars - Work hard and in time it will all pay off. iw? Ez. 'l. Scoring, Improvement Elements to Success This year's Sophomore Basket- ball Team finished the season with a record of 5-5 in district and 10- 11 overall. Balanced scoring and solid improvement from game to game marked the strength of this Sophomore squad. Seven of the eleven losses were by a margin of three points or less and this club defeated every team that it suf- fered a loss to with the exception of Cy-Fair and MacArthur. The highlight of the season for the team came when the Cougars beat Aldine 61-50. At that time Aldine held a better record but the Cougs proved to them who was boss. UAII of these youngsters have a chance to continue their playing time as JV on Varsity players in 85-86, said Coach Bob Ligon. 1.
