226 Varsilg Baseball Slrikes llnl wi+h I5-IQ Season The Varsity baseball team finished their season with a 15-12 record overall and a 7-7 district record. The outstanding players for the year were Scott Hallmark, Richard Pruitt, and Mike Walker. Hallmark was the leading batter with a .407 average and seven homeruns. Pruitt followed with a .315 average and 16 stolen bases. Walker led the pitching staff with five wins, five losses, and five saves. Robert Nunely tossed in six wins, three losses, and one save. Gaining placed on All-District 1st String were Hallmark and Pruitt. Walker, John Tayler, and Dwayne Schumann were selected for the 2nd All- District Team. Coach Dale Hinze felt the team worked hard all during the season and finished with a successful year with high expectations for next season. Spons

J.V. Winds Up Winner The J .V. baseball team started their season off slow, but after a lot of hard work and individual ef- fort, they molded into a good team. The outstanding players were Marvin Stewart, Buzz Wilson, Tom Skinner, and Scott Weigle. Stewart and Wilson led the team in batting with one homerun each. Wilson also led the Cougars in pitching along with Jeff Hellwig. Finishing the season with a winning 7-6-1 district record, the squad wound up 11-13-1 overall record. Coach Boyd Lyckman is proud of his young squad and feels they had a successful year. Many good players should come from the J .V. to help the varsity next year. 228 Sports
