Height Plagues Season The 80-81 Cougar Basketball team suffered through a disheartening 4-24 season primarily due to a tougher district as well as the lack of height according to Coach Herbert Jones. Our boys gave 100721 effort but could not overcome the lack of height in district competition. Gaining the lone place for Nimitz on the All-District team was Will Wheeler. Stanford Neal made honorable mention. He also was voted M.V.P. by his teammates. James Darby was voted most improved. Leading scorers for the Cougars were Albert Myers, Clarence Glenn, and Will Wheeler while Myers and Wheeler led in rebounding. Team Effort Leads +o Good Season The J.V. Boys Basketball team had a good season ending with a 12-15 record. Coach Richard Perkins was pleased with his team's season. He felt that the boys gave good team effort and hustled every game. The team did their stature, but made up for it in their shooting and team work. The games the J .V. team lost were by few points, and they played hard until the final second.
