Swimmers Submerge io Second The N imitz Swim Team dipped as the reigning rulers of the water. Both boys and girls teams firmly grasped 2nd place in district, relin- quishing their top spot from the previous two years. In both boys and girls events the divers swept the number one position. Mrs. Anne Hazzan acknowledges the success with complete devo- tion and hard work. The team had to be up at school at 6:00 and left school around 4:30. Depending on the workouts they swam between 5000 and 9000 yards per day. In all, 16 people placed in district eventually going to regionals. Wayne Kuske and Kevin Laughbaum were the only two to qualify for the state meet at Austin. Kuske, Donna Jackson and Marion Marrs racked up the awards for Most Valuable Swimmers. The Most Consistent Swimmers for boys were Kuske, Laughbaum and Grant Shallenberger and Marrs for the girls. Selected as the Most Improved Boy Swimmer was Frank Marrs and Jackson as the girls. With only a minimal number of graduating seniors, next yearls aquatics should make an equally Big Splash. by S dm S ey 204 Sports
